Rarely do you have the opportunity to settle into a design classic, but this is the experience you can always expect when sitting in an Ercol chair. Whether it's the timeless Ercol stacking chairs, the Windsor range's, model 203 sofa armchairs, or the high stick-back dining chairs, you can rest assured that you're in expert hands.

The Quaker dining chair harmonizes effortlessly with both traditional and contemporary interiors. An evolution of the Windsor design, this chair boasts a tall U-shaped spindle back and a sculpted oval seat that provides excellent support. Crafted through the steam bending of a single straight ash rail, the chair bow forms a tight radius bend. Traditional wedge joints are employed, wherein the legs penetrate the seat and a wedge is inserted into a cut, before being meticulously sanded flush with the seat. This meticulous detailing not only adds to the aesthetic charm but also results in a robust joint.

Having been established in 1920 by Lucian Ercolani, the company has long been a pillar of the furniture industry, with its designs gracing various spheres of life – even producing tent pegs for the military during times of conflict.

The surest sign of an authentic Ercol piece is the Ercol label. Each piece of furniture is marked with a sticker that denotes its manufacturing year. These chairs, for instance, bear stamps dating back to the 1960s.

Ercol exclusively utilized two types of wood for their mid-century Windsor range: beech and elm. Elm was employed for solid seats, while beechwood was the primary choice for most chairs, excluding the solid seats. With a distinct fleck in its grain, beech is a light wood, whereas elm carries a slightly darker hue, accompanied by an appealing swirly grain pattern.

Priced for the pair.
