Introducing the Astro round coffee table, a striking creation by Victor Wilkins for G-Plan, meticulously crafted in England during the 1960s. Victor Bramwell (V.B.) Wilkins, a renowned British furniture designer celebrated for his iconic Fresco collection for G-Plan, served as an in-house designer for the prestigious British manufacturer for an extended period. The Astro Coffee Table, conceived in 1969, draws clear inspiration from Isamu Noguchi's IN-50 coffee table, a 1944 masterpiece, all while embodying the essence of Scandinavian modernist design. The stamp featured at the bottom is eminent of the very first branding stamp of G-plan.
This captivating piece promises to infuse an aura of refined sophistication into any setting, doubling as an engaging conversation starter. Its glass inlay introduces an element of elegance, while the exquisite teak woodgrain imparts a comforting warmth to your space. Very few of these have been seen on the South African market and is definitely one for the collectors.
