A classic four-drawer chest crafted by Avalon, a British company rooted in Yatton, Somerset, with a heritage tracing back to the 1960s. The company ceased operations in the late 1980s and produced furniture under the monikers Wake & Dean and Yatton Furniture as well.
An eye-catching chest of drawers showcasing exquisite woodgrain, featuring a unique design with two metal handles on the top drawer, which is slightly smaller. Dovetail joints create an angled beehive effect, accentuating the veneered fronts. Drawer handles pull from underneath, preserving the uninterrupted grain pattern. The insides of the drawers are in pristine condition and the top drawers features its makers mark. Tapered legs with brass-colored end caps provide elegant support for this exemplary piece of Mid Century storage furniture.
The chest of drawers has been fully stripped, sanded and resealed. And is in great structural condition. As with most furniture made in the 60’s it displays age related wear that is evident in a ding here or there. Notably, there was a veneer chip on the bottom left drawer that has been repaired and the top has a ring. Both these features are visible in the pictures. This age related wear does not distract from it’s overall beauty and rather adds to its charm and allure.
